Short

Not sure why
The pressure builds
To want to write long
As if short is wrong
Sometimes a few lines
Can convey
All that needs to be said

  1. Thank you!
Nice! It was recently brought to my attention (after I mentioned it) that I need to write longer, that they wished they could write like me. Another example of the “grass is greener on the other side of the fence”, it seems.

  2. Nothing wrong with writing short, I find that it is harder to write longer for the sake of doing so because you don’t want to pad out a piece unnecessarily for the sake of making line or word count. If you feel something is perfectly formed then it doesn’t matter how long or short it is, it just needs to feel completed and whole in your own mind. Passion for your craft can light up a few sentences and keep many of them burning bright to help people blaze through the entire thing. I like your poetic styles Robert, brevity and tightly wound sentences will always win people over when it comes to writing catchy poetry and getting the message clearly across as quickly as possible 🙂

    1. Thanks David! I think it basically comes from admiration and quite honestly a bit of jealousy of other people’s writing styles. Although I’ve had other writers and poets say they wish they could write like me.
Everything I write that I share feels complete. So I guess I can safely say it’s my true voice, which is all we as writers want, isn’t it?
P.S. thanks for helping me get to this conclusion. Much love!
